The Electoral Integrity Project is an independent academic project, founded in 2012 and based at the Royal Military College of Canada / Queen's University and the University of East Anglia, that asks why elections fail and what can be done about it, producing policy-relevant research comparing the quality of elections worldwide.

The Local News Research Project combines content analysis and digital mapping to document the state of local news in Canada. Led by April Lindgren at Toronto Metropolitan University, its work — including the crowd-sourced Local News Map — tracks the closures, consolidation, and local news poverty that follow as print and broadcast outlets contract.

The Tech Lobby tracks how technology companies lobby the Canadian federal government. Led by Sara Bannerman at McMaster University, it draws on the federal lobbying registry and a large corpus of access-to-information records to show who is lobbied, on which issues, and to what effect.
