Inessa De Angelis

Graduate Student

Inessa De Angelis is a PhD Candidate at the Faculty of Information, University of Toronto. Her Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) funded doctoral work develops computational and statistical methods to better measure and understand the forms and impact of online harassment faced by Canadian politicians. More broadly, Inessa’s research focuses on the political uses of social media and artificial intelligence, gender and politics, and computational social science.


Her work has appeared in journals such as Social Media + Society, the Canadian Journal of Political Science, and the Australian Journal of Political Science. Her research and commentary have also been featured in media outlets including The Guardian, The Conversation, and The Hamilton Spectator.
